Races beat the weather at the Murray County Speedway
Mother Nature looked like she was going to postpone yet another week of racing. However, the races went on as planned and were completed before the weather hit. Races this week were sponsored by Monogram Meat Snacks of Chandler. Friday night also had the IMCA Hub City Hobby Stock shootout. Drivers from the surrounding areas would come to try and compete for the extra money that was on the line. Even though the conditions weren’t ideal, there was still plenty of action for race fans.

Hegstad Equipment IMCA Sport Compacts
The action started early for the sport compacts. The 33 of Nikkya Betz rolled her car on the second lap of the heat race. She would be ok. Stephanie Forsberg in the 7 would get a great start and jump from third to take the early lead in the feature. Forsberg would maintain momentum and open up a fairly large gap between her and the rest of the field. The 78x of Dusty Seachris took second and looked to try and close the gap. However, he would not be able to and Forsberg would go on to take the feature win.

Staab Power Washing Pure Stocks
The pure stocks were next on the track. Travis Radke in the 44 would jump out to the early race lead. David Reisdorfer in the 87 would begin to challenge Radke for the lead. The two would go back and forth for a majority of the race. Eventually, Reisdorfer would be able to make the late pass and take the lead away from Radke. Reisdorfer would go on to take home the race win.

Hadley Elevator IMCA Hobby Stocks
The Hub City Hobby Stock shootout was next. It was expected to be an exciting race as drivers would fight harder for the extra money at stake. The race definitely lived up to its expectations. Early on in the race, the 7TK of Tim Kennedy went for a wild ride. Before lap one was even complete, he would roll his car in turn 3. He would be ok. On the restart, Cory Probst in the 75C would take the race lead. Jeremy VanEde in the 00X would make his way to second and begin to challenge Probst for the lead. As the two drivers battled for the lead, they built up a sizeable gap between themselves and the field.  However, a caution would eliminate that gap. On the restart, the two drivers would continue right where they left on. Matt Hanson in the 25H would move to third and join in the battle for the lead. After a late caution, Probst and VanEde were right back at it. The two drivers would fight right to the finish line. When all was said and done, Cory Probst was able to hold on and take the feature win by a nose.

RH Sealcoating IMCA Sport Modifieds
After an exciting hobby stock race, the sport modifieds looked to continue the excitement. Bruce Egeland in the 35 would jump out to the early race lead. After an early caution, Egeland would maintain the lead. However, after yet another caution, Egeland would jump the restart and surrender the lead to Danny Myrvold. On the restart, Myrvold would keep the lead and begin to pull away from the field. Adam Ecker in the 8 moved up to second and looked to challenge for the lead. However, numerous cautions late in the race would force time limit to be called and Myrvold would take the feature win.

Car Toyz Race Wraps / Sign Pro IMCA Stock Cars
The stock cars would try to get their race in before the weather hit. Due to the incoming weather, the race was shortened to 10 laps to ensure that they would finish the race. Matt Grabow would jump out to the early race lead. Gary Mattison would begin to challenge for the race lead, but contact between the two would send Mattison into the wall hard. On the restart, Jim Richert would take the race lead. Matt Speckman would quickly take the lead away from Richert. Speckman would begin to pull away. Kevin DeBaere would close the gap and try to get a last minute pass to take the win. Speckman would be able to hold him off and go on to take the feature win

On Friday June 28th, the Murray County Speedway will have a “Salute to Agriculture Night” sponsored by MN Corn Growers, Murray County Dairy Association, AG Star, Murray County Pork Producers and Murray, Nobles & Pipestone County Corn & Soybean Growers. This will be a FREE admission night into the grandstand. Featuring for the night will be Ag related concession items, Milk Shakes, Grilled Pork Chops, the BioFuel Pace Car, the Bonnstetter Racing 98% Ethanol Race Cars, the Hotrod Racing Tour, plus the IMCA Modifieds.
