Racing action returned on a chilly Friday night at the Murray County Speedway. All of our usual classes were in action, and it was also kids night. During intermission there were car rides around the track for the kids. The races were sponsored by DeBoer Chevrolet of Edgerton.

S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
First to take the track were the pickups. 8 trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature with Craig Gertsema leading the field to the green. On the start, Gertsema took the race lead. Jordan Rolling quickly got to third and began to challenge Scott Stirn for second. These two would go back and forth for the majority of the race with Stirn doing everything to defend the spot. Meanwhile, Gertsema pulled away from the field. Rolling secured second and looked to reel in Gertsema. He ran out of time as Craig Gertsema took home the feature win. Jordan Rolling finished second, Scott Stirn finished third, and Matt Odom finished fourth.

Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Next up were the sport compacts. 14 cars made the call for the 12 lap feature. Terry Fedde led the field to the green. On the start, Ryan Westman took the race lead. Robert Pottratz quickly challenged. After an early caution, Westman kept the lead. Josh Uhl, who started near the back, got to second and began to challenge for the lead. Uhl went around Westman for the race lead. Tori Groebner took second and looked to challenge. After a late caution, Uhl kept the lead. Kaytee Devries got second and looked to challenge. Uhl went on to take the win. Kaytee Devries finished second, Terry Fedde finished third, and Tori Groebner finished fourth. After the race was over, problems for Scott Espey resulted in him rolling his car. He was taken to the hospital for observation. This didn’t stop him from showing up to races the very next night, as he made an appearance in Worthington.

Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
Next up were the Hobby Stocks. 13 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Silas Top led the field to the green. On the start, Top took the early lead. Jeremy Johnson quickly challenged for the lead. John Ross joined in to make it a three car battle. After an early caution, Ross got a great jump and took the race lead. Cory Probst got to second and began to challenge for the lead. This battle would go on right down to the finish line. When it was over, John Ross took the feature win. Cory Probst finished second, Trevor Holm finished third, and Justin Bolluyt finished fourth.

Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
Next up were the sport modifieds. 11 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature. Brycen Johnson led the field to the green. On the start, Travis Vanden Top took the lead. Danny Myrvold made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. Myrvold got around Vanden Top for the race lead. Jim Horejsi took second and began to challenge for the lead. After a late caution, Myrvold kept the lead. Jeremy Van Ede got to second and challenged for the lead. Van Ede got around Myrvold for the lead. Another late caution forced a Green-White-Checkered finish. On the restart, Van Ede kept the race lead. Jeremy Van Ede went on to take the win. Danny Myrvold finished second, Jim Horejsi finished third, and Jim Gregoire finished fourth.

Car Toyz Stock Cars
Next up were the stock cars. 6 cars made the call for the 18 lap feature. Luke Sathoff led the field to the green. On the start, Sathoff took the lead. Behind him, Jim Larson, Dustin Larson, and Nick Johansen fought for second. Johansen secured second and looked to reel in Sathoff. After a late caution, Sathoff kept the lead. Dustin Larson took second and challenged for the lead. Sathoff held on to take the feature win. Dustin Larson finished second, Nick Johansen finished third, and Jim Larson finished fourth.
RH Sealcoating & Asphalt IMCA Modifieds

Last up were the Modifieds. 16 cars made the call for the 20 lap feature. Steve Bents led the field to the green. On the start, Tyler Limoges took the race lead. Limoges quickly pulled away from the field. Dalton Magers got to second and looked to reel in Limoges. After an early caution, Limoges kept the lead. Josh Rogotzke began to challenge Dalton Magers for second. Kevin Eder joined in and battled Magers for second. Eder got around Magers and looked to reel in Limoges. He ran out of time as Tyler Limoges went on to take the feature win. Kevin Eder finished second, Dalton Magers finished third, and Jeremy Smith finished fourth.

The races will return next Friday will feature all the same classes. It is Driver Sponsor appreciation night and the races will be sponsored by Sponsored by Chander Coop-Croplan Genetics.
